World Aids Day

Hello Everyone

Given the fact that it’s 1 December 2006 and that being World Aids Day, I thought I’d give my take on the matter – for what’s it’s worth.

Whilst I realise this is a horrific epidemic that is killing millions world wide, I have an issue with the way this disease is being blamed for all the woes under developed countries are experiencing.  Except for infants and people who have this very unfortunate disease due to circumstances beyond their control, I honestly think that the way the world has hyped it up, is totally out of control!!!

Unless everyone is referring to the real unfortunate victims, I don’t see why we should pity the billions who contract the disease due to their own selfish urges.  In South Africa for example, it is no secrete how the disease is spread, or how to help prevent it – USE A CONDOM / KNOW THE SEXUAL HISTORY OF YOUR PARTNER / DON’T SHARE NEEDLES, etc!!!

In for a penny, in for a pound…  Now I’m going to bitch about governments.

The continent of Africa, the worst aids afflicted continent in the world, spends more money on weapons procurement than it does on anti retro viral drugs.  Drugs proven to slow down and in some cases control the adverse effects of HIV/Aids.

It’s like a red flag before my eyes when I hear adverts punting the poor victims of aids, as these adverts don’t imply the genuine victims, but every person who has it.

Pity the children who are born into a world of aids and live it, pity the rape victims, or people who received a dodgy blood transfusion or who had no choice but to visit an unsanitary clinic .  But as for the people who blatantly disregard the facts and declare ignorance as their excuse just for a fleeting moment of carnal pleasure, I say "boo hoo"!!!!!
